The first-ever Wiley Library Awards India took place on 30 January in New Delhi, bringing together and honoring the best in the field of library and information sciences. With an overwhelming 136 nominations from across India in three categories, the awards celebrate innovation and digital transformation while paying tributes to the community at the forefront of disseminating knowledge in society.
The winners were:
Digital Transformed Academic Library:
Library & Information Center, IIM Kozhikode
Digitally Transformed Research Library:
SIRD, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai
Aspiring Young Academic Library:
Central Library, IISER Bhopal
Selected by an independent panel of distinguished librarians convened by Wiley, each winner received a trophy and cash prize of INR 25,000 (USD 400). The awards were presented by Reed Elfenbein (EVP, International Development & GR Sales) and Vikas Gupta (Managing Director, Wiley India) at the ceremony attended by librarians, senior academics, and industry leaders.
“Wiley values the critical role that libraries play in advancing knowledge, education, and research through their extensive resources and services. The Wiley Library Awards recognize Institutions that continuously seek to improve the management and flow of information, particularly through innovative digital enhancements,” said Vikas.
The awards ceremony was followed by a panel discussion on “Challenges in Research Funding: Effect on Research Output and Its Publication” and a session on copyright issues.
